DESCRIPTION: Up to 33mm. An geometrid caterpillar that starts greenish and becomes a brownish-red to light tawny in colour with a double line along the back and with a yellow lateral stripe that contains orangey eye spots with white, black-edge pupils. The caterpillar usually attaches a wire to the leaf it is currently sitting on. If danger presents itself it drops down and dangles at the end of its wire and waits til all is clear. FOODPLANT: Feeds on a almost all deciduous trees including Oak, Birch, Blackthorn and Hawthorn. SEASON: March to June .
